Msc StudentshipS in Hair Research
Note: we are NOT currently accepting new students due to current
financial limitations.
The University of British Columbia (UBC) Department of Dermatology
and Skin Science, invites applications for a full time M.Sc.
student scholarship in the Department’s Hair Research Laboratory
program. M.Sc. students can transfer to the Ph.D. program after
one year of acceptable progress if they want to. Research can
involve human and model studies of skin cancer, hair follicle
immune privilege,
hair
follicle function, and/or inflammatory targeting of hair follicles
in inflammatory hair loss diseases - particularly alopecia areata.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s (B.Sc.)
degree, or equivalent in a life sciences subject such as (but
not limited to) immunology, biology, biochemistry, or zoology.
The
successful
candidate will be self motivated, enthusiastic, and adaptable
with good oral and written communication skills. The applicant
must also meet the general requirements of the Experimental Medicine
Program and UBC faculty of Graduate studies.
This student scholarship is for up to two years consistent with
Canadian M.Sc. student fellowship grants and UBC guidelines.
