The University of British Columbia (UBC) Department of Dermatology and Skin Science, invites applications for a full time M.Sc. student scholarship in the Department’s Hair Research Laboratory program. M.Sc. students can transfer to the Ph.D. program after one year of acceptable progress if they want to. Research can involve human and model studies of skin cancer, hair follicle immune privilege, hair follicle function, and/or inflammatory targeting of hair follicles in inflammatory hair loss diseases - particularly alopecia areata.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) degree, or equivalent in a life sciences subject such as (but not limited to) immunology, biology, biochemistry, or zoology. The successful candidate will be self motivated, enthusiastic, and adaptable with good oral and written communication skills. This student scholarship is for up to two years consistent with Canadian M.Sc. student fellowship grants and UBC guidelines. UBC recruits on the basis of merit and is committed to equity. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply. However, Canadians and permanent residents of Canada will be given priority.
